Family Life Ministry

To nurture a vibrant, progressive and spirit-filled parish family, committed to the call of the Gospel.

“The family is a little church with the same mission as the universal Church.”

SVDP’s family life ministry is aligned with the mission of the ACF (The Archdiocesan Commission for the Family) which exists to help empower families to be fully alive in their love for one another, just as God loves.

Our families today, are beset by the many profound and rapid changes that have affected society and culture. Many are uncertain and bewildered over their role and have lost the meaning and truth of conjugal and family life. SVDP’s Family Life ministry sees its role as Supporting, Illuminating and Assisting families by providing resources for formation, enrichment sessions and other forms of pastoral help for those who are in need of it.

1) Support- Support is provided for current Family Life ministry members in the form of formation and enrichment. These help families attain a basic understanding of God’s master plan for marriage and family; as it was from the very beginning. These resources will nourish families’ understanding of the purpose, function and sacredness of families.

2)  Illuminate- Programs catered for those who are uncertain, anxious and searching for the Truth as well as those who are going through the routine of being a Sunday Catholic without really internalizing and living out their faith.

3) Assist- Journeying with those who are hurting or unjustly impeded in living freely their married life. Support programs that will help those who are healing from divorce, loss and other painful circumstances.

SVDP’s family life ministry is committed to conducting programs in the Parish that is unique to the needs of SVDP’s families. They have identified 6 areas which require more attention and will dedicate time and resources to growing the Parish in these areas. These programs cater to the needs of those who are are single, preparing for marriage, young parents, parents, and grandparents. There will also be greater collaboration with RCIA and the catechist to support and assist families in SVDP
