Divine Office Prayer Group

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”

– 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

The Divine Office, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours, is an official prayer of the Church. It is a rich set of hymns, readings, psalms, canticles and prayers that change through the hours of the day, and through the days and seasons of the liturgical year.

The Divine Office Prayer Group meets after morning mass on weekdays, at around 7.30am in room 03-02, to pray the Lauds, the Morning Prayer.

The Lauds, which is latin for “praise”, is known as one of the Major Hours, and welcomes the day’s work, with praise and thanksgiving to God. Being a true form of “liturgy”, meaning “public prayer”, anyone who prays the Divine Office, anywhere in the world, whether at church, at work, or at home, joins their personal prayer to the public prayers of the Church around the world, and does their part to sanctify the day, and all human activity.

All are welcome to join them!
