“Pray With Me”

“Pray With Me”

by Brenda Khoo

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.” (Romans 12:12)
Ever felt that little tug in your heart, that whisper asking you to be closer to
God? Maybe the words don’t always come easily, or life just feels too packed
to pause for prayer. Well, you aren’t alone. This year, our church is embracing
a simple but powerful invitation: “Pray With Me.” Earlier in January this year,
our Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) together with the parish priests prayerfully
discerned our church’s pastoral plan for the next five years, with the grace of
the Holy Spirit. Together, they proposed and chose this year’s pastoral theme to
be: “Pray With Me.”
Life can get loud at times. In the hustle and bustle of our lives, we might have told
ourselves, “I’ll pray later.” But Jesus? He’s always there, waiting and ready to spend
time with us. This year’s call to “Pray With Me” feels like Jesus’s gentle hand on our
shoulder, inviting us to make space and time for God again, in our personal lives, our
families, and our parish.

Maybe you know prayer through the powerful connection to Jesus at Mass, or
the familiar comfort in Our Lady’s intercession through the rosary. Or perhaps
we quickly pray in times of need, “Help me, Lord!” Yet, prayer is so much more.
This year, let us explore more diverse, rich, and beautiful forms of prayer, so
that we can deepen our faith and relationship with God.
As our PPC chairperson Angelinena Song shares, “Let’s grow in holiness
together through different types of prayers, fellowship, and events with our
families, priests, and parish community.”
