SVDP Virtual Choirs

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.”
– Acts 16:25-26

We learn that in trying times, our best weapon against fear is prayer! And as St. Augustine says, “To sing is to pray twice.” Even in these less than favourable times, let us walk as Easter people and bear the Joy of the risen Lord in our hearts. We ask the Holy Spirit to be our advocate and aid in bringing the Good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth, in our own unique ways.

We thank our beloved choirs, for answering the call to offer their talents for the glory of God and for sharing the light of Christ with these hymns of praise!

In this month of May, the Lumen Christi Choir dedicates this hymn of praise in devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. May this song help you give your little “yes” to the Lord, just as Our Lady gave her “yes” to God.

Lumen Christi Choir, Ave Verum Corpus
Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

“O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament have left us a memorial of your Passion, grant us, we pray, so to revere the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of your redemption. Who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, on God, for ever and ever.”

To commemorate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Lumen Christi Choir invite you to unite your hearts with the Church as we continue to desire to receive Christ in His very flesh and blood, in the Eucharist. May we continue to persevere in our Spiritual Communion with Him in our hearts!
